Aqua Aerobics Classes are held in the Bomaderry Indoor heated 25m pool. Aqua
Aerobics is a multi-dimensional program in water, designed to increase flexibility as
well as strengthen and tone muscles. It is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.
Concession fees are $13.35 per session or $119.95 for 10 sessions. Concession
includes Seniors Card, Pens, DVA & Commonwealth Health. Attend weekly or as
often as you wish. Classes are held - Mon & Wed at10am;Thu at 5:45pm.

Join this group of friendly, creative people who get together, without a resident Tutor, to
explore art, engage in diverse conversation and work with their own equipment and
materials.

This is for beginners and early users of smartphones and computers to familiarise
members with their use, It will cover accessing the web and off-line use, web plans,
email and word/spreadsheet applications. Bring your Smartphone/Computer if you
have one..

If you have a passion or practical skill you would like to share with our U3A members,
then come along and find out what you need to do to run either a one-off session or
a course with a series of sessions.

What is the game of Bridge? Over the 8-week course, conducted by an experienced teacher
and players, learn the basics of this popular and interesting game. It is a good way to keep the
brain active and make new friends.
Some knowledge of card playing is advisable. A learning manual ($20) is available for purchase.
Held at the home of Nowra Bridge Club at the North Nowra Community Centre in Hood Close
(behind the shopping centre).
Come try your hand (and brain) at the best card game of all. Cost is $13 paid to U3A and $10
per lesson paid to the club.

This monthly Saturday Art Trail walk/drive provides a regular opportunity to visit the
many talented artists working in Currarong who look forward to welcoming viewers
and purchasers of their works. Meet at Alma's Cafe for refreshments and the list of
artists open on the day.

This friendly, fun, revitalising exercise class is really a joy to attend, a great combination
of beautiful music and movement.
No fancy gym equipment and every muscle stretched without feeling it. All exercises
are suited to over 50s,the balance and stretch leaving you feeling healthy and satisfied.
Bring water and wear loose clothes. This is an introductory session. If you wish,
continue with Robin at $1O/session.

This self-study group is assisted by a French born member providing valuable
pronunciation support. The emphasis is on practising conversational French
during most of the session using very short French stories to stimulate the
conversation.
New members with fair conversational French are welcome to join.

Most students in this class are now in their fourth year of U3A French study. Lessons
this term build on acquired knowledge of the French language to extend confidence
in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Class activities, primarily in French, include
reading and discussion of a set novel, group work including writing and performing
play scripts and website research of French cities and presentation of findings to the
class.
Each lesson also revises one aspect of French language usage or grammar.
The class is now undertaking completion of selected NESA HSC
French Beginners examinations in the three parts of Listening, Reading and Writing.

This class comprises students in their 2nd year of U3A French (Introduction 2) and
those in their 2nd term of French (Introduction 1).
In term 2 this mixed ability class will be structured as follows:
12.45 - 1.30: Introduction 1: Grammar Basics
 1.30 - 2.45: Combined Class: Focus on listening and speaking skills
 2.45 - 3.30: Introduction 2: Extension work across the 4 skills of speaking/listening/
               reading/writing.

Having studied this language at U3A since 2017, we are at the advanced stage of our
studies. so we add extra challenges to our usual interactive work, consolidate the
grammar through a wider range of writing tasks and tackle more sophisticated reading
passages, including stories, news items ,factual articles and poems with, of course,
plenty of puzzles, songs and jokes just for fun! Ubung machtden Meister!

This course is for students who have no or little German. The textbook to be used for the year is -
Dietlinde Hatherall and Glyn Hatherall, Colloquial German, the Complete Course for Beginners,
Routledge 2009.
Students are encouraged to use online websites such as Duo Lingo, or other additional material.

The COTA NSW: Living Longer Living Stronger program will run at four locations
within the Shoalhaven LGA. Nowra, Vincentia , Sussex Inlet and Ulladulla.
Get stronger: Stay active: Make friends. You can join a fun exercise class near you
or do the exercises at home.
The individualised strength and balance program is specifically for people aged 50
to 100+. The program will be delivered in the Shoalhaven by Activate Health and
Movements who have specially trained accredited Exercise Physiologists who will
develop an exercise plan that is tailored specifically for you and your goals.
The progressive strength and balance training can help to improve your:
•Chronic conditions
•Balance
•Cardiovascular fitness
•Muscle strength
•Mental Health and Wellbeing

Have an individual assessment with the Accredited Exercise Physiologist (45 mins).
They will devise an individual plan and then meet with you again (45 mins) and train
you to do the exercises .

You choose to do the exercises at home or join a group near you to socialise and
meet new people, or a bit of both.
Class fees range from $8 to $10 per session depending on how often you want to
attend.

The HARS mission is to recover and restore to flying condition (when possible), Civil
and Military aircraft or types of aircraft that have played a significant part in Australian
aviation history.In pursuing this mission, HARS has recruited some 80 licensed aviation
engineers, in addition to over 720 diverse volunteers to both assist the qualified
engineers and to fill other roles to maintain this organisation.
Since 1991, HARS has achieved significant milestones in the preservation of Australian
aviation heritage, building an outstanding record of restoration by solely volunteer effort.
Funding to date has been from both Corporate sponsorship and general Public
contribution

This is a guided tour through the aviation museum of working hangars. You are not
be hampered by barriers so you are able to experience the aircraft and other displays
in the best way possible.
Boeing 747 Passenger jet, Military jets (Sabre, Canberra, F111C) and a Bell Cobra
Helicopter are among a large array of aircraft on display.
Flat footwear necessary as are shorts or pants to allow fitting of safety harness.
Lunch at museum at own cost available. Museum is approx. 15 minute walk North
from Albion Park rail station.
Take Hargraves Ave left from old highway and then follow Boomerang Ave, again left,

Titanic
This presentation explores one of the worst maritime disasters of all time, an event
which shocked the world. The reputedly unsinkable RMS Titanic was constructed
in Belfast, Ireland from 1910 and launched in 1911. Its maiden trans-Atlantic voyage
was in April 1912. Titanic struck an iceberg and sank, with great loss of life.
Survivors were rescued by RMS Carpathia. Interest in Titanic was superseded by
major world events until the 1980s,when new technology made possible the finding
of the wreck by Dr Robert Ballard. Artefacts were removed by a later expedition and
placed in an exhibition.
Stunning photographs were taken of the wreck .In recent times, efforts are being
made to replicate Titanic. Even today, the very word Titanic still generates interest
and discussion.

JAMES COOK
The age of discovery was at its height in the eighteenth century. James Cook was
an explorer, navigator and cartographer par excellence whose amazing nautical
skills enabled him to traverse the globe on three separate occasions in pursuit of
impossible dreams, to boldly go where no-one has gone before. Beginning his
naval career as a humble deckhand, he rose through the ranks to become
captain of HMS Endeavour at a time when sons of the working class were rarely
considered for promotion in the Navy. Cook's first voyage to Tahiti, New Zealand
and Australia links him inexorably with the early history of Australia.

ARTHUR PHILLIP
Arthur Phillip grew up within the culture, values, fashions and features of British
Georgian society in the eighteenth century. His career in the Royal Navy prepared
him for the hardships of commanding the 11 ships of the First Fleet, which left
Portsmouth in Hampshire, England in 1787 and arrived at Botany Bay in 1788.
He established the new British convict colony of New South Wales in Sydney,
Port Jackson, on 26 January 1788. How hard was it to start a settlement from
nothing, with very little in the way of resources? The settlement was led by an
enlightened and humanitarian idealist and guided by selfless determination,
devotion, courage and vision.

WILLIAM BLIGH
Governor of the British convict colony of New South Wales from 1806 to 1808,
William Bligh is famous and/or infamous in history for two reasons. One was the
mutiny on board His Majesty’s Ship Bounty on 28 April 1789 and the subsequent
establishment by mutiny leader Fletcher Christian of a settlement on Pitcairn Island.
Bligh was placed in a small open boat and made an epic journey of 4164 miles to
Batavia in Java. The second event was the Rum Rebellion of 26 January 1808,
when Major Johnston and the NSW Corps forcibly removed Bligh from office.
Was Bligh as notorious as he is made out to be, or is he a much-maligned man
whose unfortunate temperament incited rebellion in those around him?

LACHLAN MACQUARIE
Born on the Inner Hebrides Isle of Ulva and a Scottish soldier in the British army in
India, Lachlan Macquarie rose through the ranks of the military. He was appointed
Governor of the British convict colony of New South Wales after the Rum Rebellion
against Governor William Bligh. Macquarie diligently followed his instructions and
showed his skills as a visionary and builder. Over 12 years from 1810 to 1822, he
established the colony as a viable entity and encouraged its exploration and
development. Macquarie’s views on emancipists brought him into conflict with
leading citizens in Sydney, whose influence in Britain led to the infamous Bigge
Report initiated by the British House of Commons. Macquarie made a significant
contribution to the growth of the infant colony of new South Wales.

Those who have had some prior study of this language are invited to join this workshop
based course, where students of varying experience collaborate in the development
of each other's skills. The focus is on pronunciation, comprehension and self directed
learning, using Duo lingo, the Basic Italian Grammar and Workbook and a dictionary.

This course provides conversational skills in this language for students with some recent study.
The focus is on measured pronunciation and comprehensive listening skills in a fun and
relaxed environment. Self study of the Basic Italian Grammar and Workbook is recommended.

Designed exclusively for U3A by a U3A member, this course develops mental agility
through games and exercises.
These use the main functions of brain activity - verbal, numerical, spatial recognition,
logical thinking, short and long term memory, creativity and lateral thinking.
Tasks are completed individually in a friendly, non-competitive environment.
Bring paper, pencil and eraser....and....come prepared to have fun!!

Whether you have played this great game before and would like to brush up, or have
never played, this is a chance to be taught by experienced coach, Charlie Francis, on
Bomaderry Bowling Club greens. The only requirement is flat-soled shoes (or bare feet).

The Lunch Club enjoys social interaction at a variety of local dining venues fortnightly
and through the school holidays.

The benefits of music and singing are well known, especially as we age. The shared
joy of singing promotes healthy ageing and reduces social isolation by providing the
opportunity for dementia and non dementia participants to make meaningful
connections with others in the community.Gold coin donation for morning tea.

Assisted by a Leader whose mother tongue is Spanish, this course is only able to take
new members with prior Spanish study.
Like all languages, Spanish requires considerable time and effort to learn. requiring at
least 3 hours of homework per week.
Computer based learning (Duo Lingo or equivalent) is highly recommended for all
participants.

This activity explores subjects that are taboo at dinner parties and 'difficult' current
issues in a non-argumentative setting.
Taboo Topics offers a safe space where, through respectful discussion and listening,
members can examine diverse topics such as: Religion's role in society, Economic
issues, Climate action consequences, Social environment and Generation problems
(why is only a small sector of our population saddled with fighting inflation?), to name
a few?

Arthritis can make exercise painful. This form of gentle and calming TaiChi helps to
strengthen joints and muscles.
Qigong is another form of TaiChi. This introductory lesson is for beginners. If you
wish, continue with Lyn at $10/session at the School of Arts ANNEX, in the mixed
hours carpark opposite the Regional Gallery in Berry St, Nowra.
